COASTAL VILLAGE OF REKAWA

Rekawa is a small coastal village located in the Hambantota district in the southern province. The village is situated on the shores of a long sand boulder and a lagoon with many species of mangroves that enhances the beauty of the village. The golden beach of Rekawa is one of the most important sea turtle nesting sites in Sri Lanka. Five out of the seven species of sea turtles visit the area and lag eggs in the sand during the night.
