Itinerary

Welcome at the airport (morning) and drive to visit Sigiriya palace complex and ancient gardens, built 5th century A.D. You can visit the Water Garden, Bolder Garden, Mural Paintings, The Mirror Wall, The Lion’s Paws and the Royal Swimming Pool and the ruins of  the kings palace on top. Sigiriya is considered an architectural and hydraulic engineering marvel of the 04th Century.

Drive to Visit Polonnaruwa after breakfast. Polonnaruwa ancient city was the second capital city of Sri Lanka with a prosperous history dating back to 1000 years. Polonnaruwa would be the best place in Sri Lanka to talk about the ancient irrigation system which even surprised the modern day engineers at times. It’s the best option to get into one of those local food restaurants to enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan lunch on the way back to Sigiriya.

After the breakfast, drive to visit Dambulla cave temple. Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site (1991) in Sri Lanka. Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains.There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Gautama Buddha and his life. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses.

Then continue the trip to Kandy, a living UNESCO world heritage city.

Kandy is a cultural city but also with some touches of modern life style. The temple of tooth relic in the middle of the city is the most venerated Buddhist institution in the country with thousands of devotees performing cultural and religious rituals. You will visit the temple of tooth relic in the morning. This is one of the unique UNESCO world heritage living cities in the world.

Kandy is a also to observe the local urban and more cultural life style. There are typical street markets where you can walk through. In the evening, it is optional to visit Peradeniya botanic garden, one of the best places to study the ecology of the region.

Drive to Colombo after breakfast. Colombo is quite a modern city with sky risers and public parks among few water bodies. Colombo is the major international port city of Sri Lanka and is one of the important points in East, West trading.

Colombo offers a diversified experience for the tourist. The colonial era buildings, the urban and authentic beaches, public shopping and classy shopping malls, elegant fine dining restaurants, authentic sea food and local restaurants on the beach, national museum, Public souvenir shops and many other choices for entertainment.

Drive to visit Galle city and the UNESCO world heritage Galle fort and it’s fortifications. On the way to Galle, you will pass the turtle conservation centers on some of the loveliest beaches in the south. After visiting Galle, you will continue to one of the best beaches of Sri lanka offering you to relax on its smooth, white sands and to swim in its magical waters! You will pass few of the best beaches in Asia on your journey from Galle to Mirissa.

Drive to Negombo after breakfast. Negombo is a sub urban and fisheries town closer to the airport with a wide sandy beach for recreation and bathing. You can visit both the lagoon and the sea to observe the traditional fishing related activities. The Northern part of Negombo is a tourist area with a number of classy restaurants and pubs keeping live untill the midnight. You can also choose to enjoy your beer at a pub where many decent locals enjoy theirs.

The area with the majority of its population engaged in fisheries is known as little Rome for its density of Churches and religious population.
